back in grand junction

hello my adoring public. yes, it has been a while. Unfortunately i have no pictures to post at this most critical of times because our camera battery is close to death and the charger is, alas, either at my mom's or at our new house in Greeley. And so, i have no pictures.

Our time back in Cali was rushed and exghasting (how do you spell that?)

thankfully, beverly came over to help us pack up everything. She is a genious packer. Then we got the truck a day early and filled 'er up. Praise God - everything fit except for a few things destined for good-will.

Yesterday felt like a million years. We were so cramped in the truck (I had to sit in the middle with a lamp shade on my lap) and my neck is killing me still. Luckily, there was good weather and not very much traffic. A good night's sleep on a real mattress last night was fabulous.

what else new? we move in the 2nd. I'll post pictures when i can. hope you all are having a great break.

love,
mel

ps: beverly - i forgot to give you your present - it's somewhere in the truck - i'll mail it when i find it! =)

back in california

We're back in california to finish packing. We finished almost packing everything except the kitchen. Beverly's over making sure everything fits into the boxes the way that it should. we should easily be done by tomorrow afternoon. hopefully. we have a lot more stuff than i realized.

so right now we're taking a break and watching the 008 days of 007 on Spike TV. then it will be back to packing. huzzah.

i forgot to charge the camera in Colorado and accidently left the charger there, so the pictures are not so much for a while. but i promise more soon. maybe tomorrow i can post pictures from christmas.

back in junction

last night we got a late start home and so we stopped at Beau Jo's for dinner. colorado mountain pies . . . yummmmmmmmmy

when the collective you comes to visit us, we must go to beau jo's for the best pizza ever. Sure, it's a little out of the way in Idaho Springs (about an hour or so west of Denver and therefor around two hours from Greeley) but I think we can work it around a trip to the airport to pick you up or drop you off.

Casa Bonita? What casa bonita? we're taking you to Beau Jo's.

in other news, we're here in Grand Junction, hanging out. Please continue to pray for my mom as she contimplates surgery. Her doctor's don't seem to think that other treatments will be very effective.

until later,

"almost heaven"

this morning we said goodbye to Wade's aunt's cabin "almost heaven" and headed down the mountain back to Fort Collins, where we picked up the Tank and discovered that I have absolutely no idea where my keys are.

after a short (but frantic) delay, tom loaned me his key to Penelope and we set off to Greeley, where we signed the papers to our new house.

then we wrapped a present for one of tom's cousins in our car (in their driveway . . . luckily they weren't home). It turned out better than the last present we wrapped in the car last night, when what i thought was tissue paper turned out to be thick, thick wrapping paper. It turned out looking . . . interesting.

in anycase, we've been knocking around Greeley for the last five hours or so waiting for 3:45, when we get to empty our cars into our new garage. how exciting!!

then we're off to the Denver airport, where we will leave the Tank in long term parking for Tom's sister Ellie to pick up when she gets back from visiting Momma Teresa in California. Then we head back to Grand Junction, hopefully arriving before midnight. ha. ha. hopefully the roads will be MUCH better than they were when we came up. seriously, they couldn't be much worse.

yesterday was a really warm day (60 degrees) and i was thinking, "okay, i can handle this Colorado weather." Yeah. that was yesterday. today it's cold. How cold? I don't actually know. But cold. I'm glad I brought lots of sweaters. Sweaters on top of sweaters . . .

so anyway, now we're just waiting. We'll be in GJ until Christmas, drive Tom's dad's truck (no name. . . yet) back to RSM the day after Christmas, pack like mad on the 27 and 28th, and pick up the u-haul and load it and drive as far as we can on 29 December. Then we'll hang out in GJ until we get good weather and then be in Greely by 2 January to unload everything into the house. Then the real fun begins. or is the "real fun" the packing? I can't remember . . .

so packing party at our place 27 and 28 December. Come one, come all!!! Posted by Picasa

our new house

this is our new house.

it is at the end of a cul-de-sac and close to the starbucks. and aren't those really the two most important things?

this is the house that Glenn told us about yesterday. We are really excited about it because it easily doubles or triples our space, and it has a great office area with lots of sun. Plus, it has an awesome guest room, with it's own bathroom and walk in closet. So come visit us!!!

we are going to go sign the papers tomorrow and then we'll be able to unload our cars and leave all those boxes in the garage. which will be a HUGE help. so that's exciting. what else? I donno, but i'll keep you posted.

love you all!!! Posted by Picasa

this is our new front door. Posted by Picasa

here i am in the living room getting ready to go.

right now, i'm at Panera Bread (so glad they have one here!!!) yummy soup to keep me warm.

we think we found a house. it's really nice and very open. unfortunately, we don't have enough credit, so we're waiting to see what our options are. The lady in charge knows about PD and is excited to have us as tenents, which is encouraging.

okay, back. turns out Patti is out sick today . . . we may need to stay until Friday. I'll keep you posted. =)

love you all!!!!

mountains. and clouds. but not snow clouds. it's supposed to be up to 60 degrees today. everyone is so happy =) Posted by Picasa

the sun rise again. so pretty Posted by Picasa

here you can see where tom almost drove into a ditch last night. that, coupled with the snow, explains why we walked down the road last night instead of driving. Posted by Picasa

penelope needs a bath. Posted by Picasa

the sun rise from wade's aunt's cabin. it is SO beautiful there.

last night we got in after dark and had to walk down the hill to get the keys. we used tom's phone as a flashlight. it was great fun. a little chilly, though. Posted by Picasa

in greeley

here i am at starbucks in greeley. okay, actually, "here" is a picture of some of the geese by a pond here.

last night we stayed in Fort Collins with Tom's Aunt Betty and her family, who are all super nice. Then we came to greeley and drove around looking at some paces - some of them have potential. By "some," I mean two, one of which we are going to go look at as soon as i finish posting this.

we're excited about it because we went to find it earlier today and ran into the next door neighbor, Glenn, this really nice retired guy who used to be in the airforce. He told us all about the place and the neighborhood and he seems like he would be a good neighbor. So that's encouraging. The bad part about this house is that i can't have a dog =(. We'll see if it has enough good qualities inside to win us over =)

the monkey bean, where I am right now, with tom and his sister Ellie. so far, so good. Posted by Picasa

this is tom and the Tank outside a burger king in Glenwood Springs. The pass was closed so we were stuck there for around two hours. It turns out that it was closed because of an accident, not the weather, but that didn't stop the weather for most of the time to be really icky. I don't like driving in this stuff. Luckily it's sunny in denver. Posted by Picasa

here is my mom in front of Tom's Tank. Notice how snowy it is. we had to scrape the cars. weird. Posted by Picasa

it snowed last night in Junction for like the first time this season. Of course this would be the day we decide to drive through the mountains. yay? Posted by Picasa

don't i look excited? Posted by Picasa

this is tom and his companion, the Tank. Although it looks like he's going to Coe College, he's not. He's going to UNC. Notice all the boxes. Poor Tank Posted by Picasa
